ADVERB FORMS

• The adverb is formed in general by adding -ment to the feminine adjective.

Normalement, nous partons en vacances en juillet.
Normally, we go out on vacation/holidays in July.

Il a demandé vivement qu'on lui ouvre la porte.
He vividly/intensely asked that somebody opened the door.

• There are some exceptions, when the adjective ends in:
  -ant the adverb is formed with the ending -amment
  -ent the adverb is formed with the ending -emment
  -i  the adverb is formed with the ending -iment
  -é  the adverb is formed with the ending -ément
  -u  the adverb is formed with the ending -ument

Le vent souffle violemment dans cette région.
The wind blows violently in this region.

Elle chante vraiment très bien.
She sings really very well.

Paul travaille aisément plusieurs heures de suite.
Paul works easily many hours non-stop.

You are absolutely right, as always!

SPECIAL CASES

Le téléphone ne fonctionne pas bien.
The telephone is not working well.

Elle a mal dormi.
She has badly slept.
