DATE STRUCTURE

• On est le combien, aujourd'hui?

• On est le + day + month (+ year)
  It's + day + month + year
  On est le 14 octobre 2009.
  
  
• Aujourd'hui, c'est le + day + month (+ year)

• Only for day number 1 we say le premier.
  C'est le premier mai.
  
  
• In general we say years by two digits.
  1973 is dix-neuf cent soixante-treize.

THE MONTHS OF THE YEAR

• Months are used with the preposition en or with the construction au mois de.
  
  en avril
  au mois d'avril

THE DAYS OF THE WEEK

• The days of the week are used without article, except when you want to express habitual weekly actions.
  
  Lundi je ne peux pas.
  Monday I can't.
  
  Le lundi je ne travaille pas.
  On Mondays I don't work.
  
  
• To mean "everyday", the expression tous les jours is used.
  
  Il arrose les plantes tous les jours.

THE SEASONS

• Seasons are used with the preposition en, except for Spring, which is used with au.
  
  en été
  en automne
  en hiver
  au printemps
