DEMONSTRATIVE ADJECTIVES IN FRENCH

	MASCULINE	FEMININE
SINGULAR	ce livre (this/that book) cet avion (this/that plane)	cette maison (this/that house) cette orange (this/that orange)
PLURAL	ces livres (these/those books) ces avions (these/those planes)	ces maisons (these/those houses) ces oranges (these/those oranges)

They are used before nouns.
Ce becomes cet when the following word begins with a vowel or a mute 'h'.

Ce livre est très intéressant.
This book is very interesting.

Cet avion départ en 15 minutes.
This plane departs in 15 minutes.

Cette maison appartient à l'Ambassade de France.
This house belongs to the French Embassy.

J'ai acheté ces livres hier.
I bought these books yesterday.

Tous ces avions ont été fabriqués par Airbus.
All these planes have been made by Airbus.

Ces oranges sont délicieuses!
These oranges are delicious!

NEUTER	ce (that, those) ceci (this, those) cela (that, those)

They are used to replace nouns mentioned before.

Parmi ces livres, quel est celui que tu préfères?
From these books, which is the one that you prefer?

Quel est ton livre? Celui-ci ou celui-là?
Which is your book? This one or that one?

J'aime cela!
I love that!
